Intro & Objective
FilmPlus is a third-party streaming app that lets you watch movies and TV shows on FireStick and other Android-based devices. Since it is not available on the Amazon App Store, you need to sideload it using the Downloader app.
In this guide, I will show you the step-by-step process to install FilmPlus on FireStick. I will also show you how to install Bear Player, which is required with FilmPlus. The instructions are simple, beginner-friendly, and should take only a few minutes to complete.
Some FireStick devices may block FilmPlus because it is not distributed through the Amazon Appstore. If that happens, follow the steps to unblock later in this guide.
Current Status of FilmPlus
FilmPlus is currently working on FireStick and other Android-based streaming devices. However, it is not available on the Amazon Appstore.
Some FireStick devices may block FilmPlus from opening after installation. This is part of Amazon’s ongoing restrictions on certain third-party streaming apps. If that happens, you can usually fix the issue by cloning the app using App Cloner. I have included the unblocking steps later in this guide.
Like most third-party streaming apps, FilmPlus is distributed through unofficial sources, so download links or app behavior may change over time.

How to Block Ads on FilmPlus
FilmPlus displays multiple ads, and they can be very annoying. The good news is that ExpressVPN includes an ad-blocking feature that can reduce many of these ads.
In addition to making your streaming activities private, ExpressVPN also offers ad-blocking. Here’s how you can use it:
1. Get ExpressVPN if you haven’t done that already. Open the app on FireStick and click Options in the menu at the top.

2. Click Settings on the next screen.

3. Click Advanced Protection.

4. Click Block ads.

How to Use FilmPlus
This section covers the following:
- Navigation & Playback
- Debrid Integration
- Trakt Integration
Navigation & Playback
FilmPlus is a straightforward app.
When you run it the first time, you may encounter the following prompt. Click Allow to continue.
![]()
Here’s the app’s home screen. The menu bar is at the top. It includes a hamburger icon in the top-left corner that opens a dropdown menu with various options. Next to it is the icon with an inverted triangle that lets you choose content genres/categories.
The top-right section has the search option to find movies and shows. The star icon lets you quickly access titles you have marked as favorites. The last icon with 3 vertical dots is largely irrelevant.
To browse movies, click the hamburger icon in the top-left.
![]()
You can now choose Movies from the dropdown.
![]()
When you click a movie or episode, you see a dashboard like this. Click the play button to start.
![]()
You are likely to find multiple links for a title. Click a link.
![]()
Click Play when prompted.
![]()
If you haven’t installed Bear Player yet, click Install on this prompt, then follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
![]()
Debrid Integration
Debrid services let you access premium links, which are usually of much better quality than the free links. Premium links usually open faster and are more reliable than free links.
Here is how you can sign in with a debrid account (I am using Real Debrid for demonstration):
1. Click the menu icon in the top-left corner.
![]()
2. Click Settings in the dropdown.
![]()
3. Click the Real Debrid login option.
![]()
4. Note down the code on your screen. Now, go to https://real-debrid.com/device and authenticate with the code.
| If you don’t have a Real Debrid account, go to the Real Debrid official website and create one. |
![]()
Trakt Integration
Trakt is an optional service, but if you want to sync your watchlist, history, and recommendations across platforms, you should get it.
1. If you don’t have a Trakt account, go to the official website and set it up. Now, click the menu icon on the FilmPlus home screen (top-left corner).
![]()
2. Click Settings.
![]()
3. Choose the Trakt login option.
![]()
4. Note down the code and go to trakt.tv/activate to authenticate it.

FilmPlus Review
Safety
FilmPlus is a third-party streaming app, so it does not go through the same review process as apps listed on the Amazon Appstore. That always calls for extra caution. However, the specific FilmPlus APK version I checked, 2.4.2r1, showed no threats detected on VirusTotal at the time of scanning.
VirusTotal is a widely recognized malware analysis service, and its credibility is further strengthened by its ownership by Google.
You can review the scan result here: VirusTotal scan for FilmPlus 2.4.2r1.
That said, a clean VirusTotal result does not guarantee that an app is completely safe in every respect. Third-party streaming apps can change over time, may rely on unofficial distribution sources, and can sometimes show intrusive ads or request permissions you may not be comfortable with.
For that reason, I recommend downloading FilmPlus only from a trusted source and reviewing new versions individually, rather than assuming every future build is equally safe.
Legality
FilmPlus is a content aggregator. The app itself does not appear to host content directly, but it may provide access to streams whose licensing status is unclear or unauthorized in some regions. Because of that, the legality of using FilmPlus depends entirely on the specific content you access and the laws in your country.
If you use FilmPlus only to watch movies and shows that are in the public domain or otherwise properly licensed, you are generally on safer legal ground. However, streaming copyrighted content without authorization may violate copyright law. Since it is not always easy to verify whether a source is licensed, users should proceed carefully and choose legitimate content sources whenever possible.
Online Reviews Summary (AI-assisted)
Public feedback on FilmPlus is limited, but the comments that do exist show a mixed picture. Some users like the app because it works well on FireStick and supports Bear Player. For example, one recent Reddit post described FilmPlus as working fine on Fire devices when paired with Bear Player. On the other hand, another recent Reddit thread shows that some users encounter playback issues, including repeated prompts to install Bear Player even after installing it.
An independent review from HomeTeQ was also broadly positive. It described FilmPlus as well-designed, intuitive, frequently updated, and strong for movies and TV shows, but it also noted that the app still has some small glitches. Overall, the available feedback suggests that FilmPlus is usable and popular among some FireStick users, but it may not deliver a fully consistent experience for everyone.

FAQs
Is FilmPlus safe to use on FireStick?
FilmPlus appears reasonably safe based on the VirusTotal scan of version 2.4.2r1, which detected no threats. However, because it is a third-party app, you should still be cautious and install it only from a trusted source.
Is FilmPlus legal?
FilmPlus itself is just an app, but some of the streams it provides access to may not be licensed. Its legality depends on the content you watch and your local copyright laws.
Does FilmPlus work only with Bear Player?
FilmPlus is commonly used with Bear Player, and many users install Bear Player for playback. In fact, some setups may not work properly until Bear Player is installed.
Why is FilmPlus blocked on some FireStick devices?
Some FireStick users report that Amazon blocks certain third-party apps. If that happens, cloning the app with a tool like App Cloner may help you get around the block.

Conclusion

After installation, you can explore its library and features based on your streaming preferences. Always make sure you use legitimate sources and prioritize your privacy and device safety while streaming.
good stuff 🙂
